Tips for prioritizing mental health and wellbeing

We've all felt it one time or another—the pressure and stress to perform and the draining impact it has on our lives. In a recent study, mental health and burnout was the top cause of stress for employees.

So what can you do to overcome these challenges? How can you boost awareness with your leaders and members? Don't worry, we've got covered! Check out these tips:

2. Add Journeys to your program

Pebble-Image-26Journeys are multi-week, guided courses that help members successfully form and adopt new healthy habits through a highly personalized and persuasive experience. Here are a few Journeys you can add to your program:

  • Strategies for Anxiety and Panic Attacks: Anxiety is common, but relief is not one-size-fits-all. It’s important to find strategies and tools that are right for you. In this Journey, you’ll learn a variety of things you can try anytime, anywhere to relieve discomfort and recover more quickly from panic or anxiety attacks. Learn how to tune in to what your body is telling you and get ideas for managing your unique symptoms.

  • How to Live Better by Setting Boundaries: If you’ve been feeling burnt out, overwhelmed or even a little resentful, it might be time to set some relationship boundaries. Although boundaries are shaped by different things (like your cultural background, family dynamics or even where you live), everyone can learn to recognize, communicate and advocate for what they need. It’s one of the most nurturing acts of self-care you can give yourself—and it can start today.

  • Help Someone in a Mental Health Crisis: It’s hard when someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, but you can be a major source of support (and still maintain your boundaries). In this Journey, you’ll learn how to start conversations about mental health, provide emotional and practical support and what to do in case of an emergency. With a little extra education and empathy, you can make a difference in someone’s life.

3. Build in breaks each week

After periods of intense focus, giving yourself a break is essential

  • Lead by example: Add a meeting on your calendar to dedicate time for yourself. Encourage your members to do the same on their own calendars.

  • This time is for you: Use this time to get up and stretch, go for a short walk, connect with coworkers socially, listen to music, close your eyes for a few minutes, meditate, or eat mindfully without distractions.

4. Tie stress awareness and mental health together

Part of being aware of your mental health includes identifying what triggers you to feel stressed and implementing ways to overcome or work through that stress. Check out this blog post for stress-reducing healthy habits and journeys and ways to revamp your virtual or in-person work environment.
