Tips from our Workplace Health & Wellbeing experts

Tip 1: Leveraging Targeted Digital Communication for Higher Clinic Participation

Jenn Totin

Health & Wellbeing Program Manager

As a vendor-agnostic team, our Health & Wellbeing team members thrive on supporting a client’s full program. As the Health & Wellbeing Program Manager for a utilities client, one of Jenn’s projects is focused on supporting their existing onsite Executive Health Exam (EHE) clinics. The goal—ensure their members take advantage of this unique offering.

To accomplish this goal, Jenn worked with the client to develop customized communication strategies that made a real difference in participation rates. This client’s population, who work mostly at a power plant, was already comfortable using the Personify Health platform. This level of comfort helped overcome barriers common with traditional outreach methods, like email or posters.

Through strategically timed push notifications, custom calendar cards, and announcement cards, Jenn’s communications increased the clinic’s visibility and responsiveness. This multi-channel approach engaged 128 employees at the remote onsite clinic — an impressive turnout given the geographic challenges of the power plant location.

What makes these EHE clinics so successful is their comprehensive, unrushed one-hour health exams with an EHE physician, enhanced lab test, all recommended health screenings, customized care plan, and post-exam care with ancillary coordination, mentoring, and referrals, as needed. While Jenn’s team doesn't run the clinics, their communication support is critical in driving awareness and participation to this onsite benefit that bypasses access issues in a remote area. For future clinics, an in-app message will be added to further enhance engagement.

Key takeaway

Using targeted, platform-based messaging can break through communication noise and connect with employees who might otherwise overlook important health events. Ensure your communication’s strategy uses multi-channel messaging to ensure optimal results.

Tip 2: Making Wellbeing Easy to Access—and Hard to Ignore

Health & Wellbeing Specialist

Engaging employees—especially those less likely to respond to digital messages—requires meeting them where they are. Sarah recommends setting up “stop-by” tables, at their worksites, immediately following team huddles or meetings. These approachable hubs offer employees a chance to ask questions, pick up handouts, and get real-time support in a casual space.

Each table includes quick-reference guides, flyers with QR codes linking to the Max Go device in the Personify Health Store. Offering incentives to purchase a device can help members overcome cost as a barrier and makes it easier to join the program. Timing these efforts with enterprise-wide step challenges leverages momentum and supports increased participation.

Health and Wellbeing Specialists also provide hands-on help logging in, syncing devices, and joining challenges. This face-to-face support is especially impactful for field workers who benefit most from personal assistance.

The result? A proven, people-first model that builds trust, drives engagement, and empowers employees to take charge of their wellbeing.

Key takeaway

Meeting employees where they are with in-person, approachable support—like “stop-by” tables after meetings—makes wellbeing programs more accessible and engaging, especially for those less responsive to digital outreach. Combining face-to-face help with timely incentives and easy access tools drives trust, participation, and empowers employees to take charge of their health.

Tip 3: Getting More Personal with Promotions & Announcement Cards

Engagement Specialist

Personal connection boosts engagement. Michelle worked with her client to create and host short, one-minute videos—think “commercial or news clips”—to promote events, special programs, how-tos, and important announcements. These videos were embedded in announcement cards, emails, and other promotional materials, broadcasting messages from a trusted, relatable face—their Health & Wellbeing Specialist.

By using energy, props, and slides, the videos helped communicate important information in an engaging way. Michelle tracks video views via Vimeo to analyze reach, noting positive response as employees appreciated receiving messages from a human rather than just text or images. This personal touch also makes onsite visits more familiar since employees recognize the specialist from the videos.

Key takeaway

Personalized video messages from health & wellbeing specialists help build familiarity and trust, increasing message engagement and making onsite interactions more meaningful.

Tip 4: Use of Surveys in the Platform to Check in with Members

During a New Year Challenge, Michelle used weekly surveys to monitor participant updates, motivations, and focus areas. Often, challenge participants can lose sight or lose steam as time passes, but her frequent, identical Monday surveys served as reminders and engagement nudges.

By rewarding survey completions on the platform, participants stayed connected and mindful of their weekly goals. The weekly check-ins offered members a chance to reflect and recommit to the challenge, boosting engagement and accountability.

Key takeaway

Regular, incentivized surveys embedded in wellbeing platforms help maintain participant motivation by prompting reflection, progress tracking, and renewed commitment.
